The Managers House is the residence of the former owner of Wilber. This 4 bedroom house is great place to hang out and to use as a base to explore the region. It is air-conditioned and all linen and bedding is included. The small barbie will help you enjoy the afternoon shade as you watch the spectacular colours radiate over the Warrumbungle mountains. The more adventurous should fill the old bath in the garden (candles and oils complimentary) and take a long soak under the stars. Meals, transport and a shopping service are also available so you can make the most of your holiday. For larger groups and families with small children, you might like to use the Cottage or Farmhouse which are both self contained and about 150 paces away. Extra mattresses, tents and swags are also available for hire, as are the sofas in the party shed. **Conditions apply While here, take the opportunity to enjoy the Wilber walking track. It is 5.5 kms and takes you across the plain where you may be lucky enough to spot the Brolgas before you enjoy the stroll back along the creek. Guided Farm Tours are also available. You should find a couple of yabby nets, pushbikes and a wild set of golf sticks in the old stables which are sure to give you a few laughs.. There are two grocery stores, clubs and a bottle-shop in town only 6kms from the house. The Warrumbungle National Park is only half hours drive and they offer fabulous holiday activities for the whole family. Western Plains Zoo is a great day trip, only an hour and a half drive from Wilber and most guests take the opportunity to visit the zoo while they are in the area. Lightning Ridge is the Opal Capital of Australia and is also a great day trip. two eight two eight offer monthly movies or cafe style lunches. Be sure to visit the centre while you are in town for the whole Gulargambone experience as well as fantastic coffee and scrumptious homemade fare. It really is a must see while in Gulargambone and ask to watch the short dvd about our wonderful community projects. The Bowling Club has a Chinese Restaurant every Friday and Saturday night and the Golfie offers meals on Friday nights. The Pub serves meals 7 days. All well priced and a good chance to catch up with some locals.
