Wilber homestead was built in the early 1920's. This 54 square home has an abundance of space making it perfect for group getaways or basic family holidays. It is air-conditioned with 4 bedrooms, 1 Queen, 3 Doubles  (sleeping 8). Extra mattresses and swags available on request.  All linen and bedding is included.

Wilber is a typical homestead of this area. It has open fires, a big kitchen, laundry, TV room, lounge. dining room and fabulous verandahs. It is the perfect place for the whole family to meet for a catch-up and some time out. Great place for a get together or family reunion. For a bit of a hoot you might like to throw on a drizabone or  some of the funny old ball gowns hanging around the dining room...even just for a photo shoot!!

If you do have a few families visiting and want to spread out a bit, there is also Managers House (sleeps 8) and a Family Cottage  sleeps 6 (or 8 at a squeeze). They are about 100 metres each side of the Farmhouse.

The tennis court is a far cry from Wimbledon, but good for a "hit and giggle". Tennis racquets are supplied. You will  find a couple of yabby nets, pushbikes and a wild set of golf sticks in the old stables. The barbie will help you with those long winter lunches , or a fun-filled summer evening with friends.

There are two grocery stores, clubs and a bottleshop in town only 6kms from the house.

two eight two eight offer monthly movies or cafe style lunches.

I loved this email from Nikki who visited in July 2007:

Our visit to Wilber made a big impact on us. I sat in a mall in Chatswood the day after we got home, looked around at all the shoppers mindlessly paying homage to the god of materialism with no real purpose in their step. Seemed so different to farming life which although can be hard work, holds more purpose. Is real.

Back to Wilber. The hosts, I'd say would have to top the list. Very welcoming and inclusive. Ready and willing to allow guests to watch or partake in farming activities... and to answer countless questions about sheep, chooks, crops, quad bikes and cooking lamb the country way. Wilber's eastern horizon is a selling point.... the curvaceous silhouette of the  Warrumbungles is silencing. As is the clear night sky with its trillions of twinkling stars. The farm house holds all the charm one would expect of an Aussie farm house.

Old and slightly rambling. A bit ramshackled. Decorated with intriguing farm trinkets and adorned with gorgeous pre-loved frocks waiting to be worn to dinner in the dining room. The house offers up sunny corners on the verandah, perfect for the morning cuppa. And cozy fire places, perfect for toasting marshmallows. Wilber's a relaxed, easy going old gentleman. He's been around a while, seen a lot and knows a few great yarns. If only he could talk.
